I’m giddy. Why? Because I got to chat on air this morning with DJ Declan Meehan on The Morning Show on East Coast FM. Now, that’s not something I do every day and I’m very grateful for the opportunity.
I wasn’t alone though, there’s strength in numbers, Orla Doherty joined the call from Amsterdam. (I’m assured she wasn’t calling from one of those mad coffee shops at the time.) Orla said the word “knickers” live on air. Ha! I kept it clean, that’s a function of my convent education I reckon.
We chatted about Funny Women and that age-old question about whether women are funny or not. I don’t think it matters in comedy if you are a man, a woman or anything in between, what matters is whether you’re funny or not. Seems straightforward to me.
Apart from anything, the only way to know whether you’ll enjoy a lineup of Funny Women is to come along to the show. It’s on Monday, 20th May 2024 in Whelans, Wexford St in Dublin. Emma Doran is the headline act, DirtBird Sue Collins, Cork DJ Sinead Quinlan, author Barbara Scully (Barbara is gas, she brought the house down at our very first show) and Aoife Dooley is making her comedy comeback.
We’ll have a cheeky panel discussion with Barbara and beauty & fashion influencer, Maria McKenzie (aka No Spring Chicken on her socials) and music by Jessica Smith. Jessica was a backup singer for Kodaline and she opened for The Chainsmokers and Rita Ora in Dublin’s RDS too. How wild is that?
Come along for the craic. 20th May is a Monday, sure what else would you be doing on a Monday night? We’ll leave Thursday and Friday nights to the students and the young wans.
Tickets here.
